Ludus continues to lead the way in immersive workplace safety training with a new simulation that takes awareness to another level: Risk Awareness at Height! It is a brief but high-impact experience that places the user in an extreme situation... without any real risk.
It is a short module, now available in the wireless version of the Ludus platform. In it, the learner experiences first-hand the worst consequence of reckless behaviour: a fall from a great height.
An experience that raises awareness among workers
The simulation places the learner at the top of a tower crane on a construction site. From the very first steps, the feeling of acrophobia/vertigo is so realistic that many users hesitate before moving forward.
And no wonder: the visual realism and dynamics of the environment generate an authentic physical and emotional response, which is key to achieving meaningful learning.
As mentioned above, the exercise ends in a tragic and shocking finale, caused by failure to use the mandatory anchorage. This experience is what makes the simulation a powerful tool for raising awareness and consciousness.
Experiential learning and risk or acrophobia detection
The new module is designed to show the consequences of unsafe behaviour at height and encourage reflection on the importance of prevention.
In addition, it can be used to detect feelings such as acrophobia before exposing workers to real environments, thus improving risk management and safety in practice.
Another advantage is its short and accessible format, which allows numerous workers to be trained in a very short time, maximising the impact on training and awareness days.
It is advisable to carry out the exercise in a straight line of about five metres (e.g. a corridor) to allow the user to move forward by taking real steps. This small preparation increases the feeling of realism and vertigo, reinforcing the experience and the training impact. However, it is also possible to move through the simulation using only the controls.
Taking presentations or commercial demonstrations to another level
This new simulation is not only useful in the field of training. It is also a unique tool for giving presentations on this technology, or even commercial demonstrations.
Including a brief, high-impact capsule in a commercial demo makes all the difference for external prevention services. Showing a client such a realistic and impressive experience in VR is a powerful argument for conveying the value of immersive training and standing out from the competition.
