In its quest to continue promoting increasingly comprehensive, realistic and safe training, Ludus has launched a new VR simulation on its platform: Working at Height in the Electrical Sector!
Safety working at height remains one of the major challenges in sectors such as the electrical sector, where technical personnel must deal with changing environments, elevated structures and risks associated with energy distribution. The new simulation allows for specific training in this type of operation, in a realistic and safe manner.
Training designed to save lives
The new simulation aims to provide an environment in which workers can learn and practise procedures for accessing and working on structures with a risk of falling to different levels. Specifically, an electricity distribution tower.
Through an immersive and realistic environment, the product allows users to safely experience situations that, in real life, could involve a high risk.
The training focuses on essential aspects for professionals in the electrical sector:
- Selection and review of the appropriate PPE for working at height in areas with electrical hazards.
- Safe access and work on an electricity distribution tower.
- Identification, management and prevention of risks, especially those that can lead to serious accidents, such as errors in securing equipment.
Configurable training
To adapt to different training styles and learning stages, the simulation includes a configurable exercise:
- Guided mode: ideal for introducing students to procedures step by step, ensuring that they understand and apply safe practices before moving on to a higher level. The simulation itself guides the worker.
- Practical mode: allows students to test their acquired knowledge by confronting them with real decisions in a controlled but demanding environment.
Accurate statistics and feedback for more effective training
One of the module's strengths is its results panel. The simulation not only evaluates general errors, such as selecting inappropriate protective equipment, but also detects very specific mistakes that can make a difference in a real situation.
These include:
- Exceeding the height of the highest anchor point.
- Failing to secure the carabiner screw correctly.
- Stopping during the ascent without using the restraint device.
Thanks to this detailed feedback, which is also reflected in the Ludus statistics panel, the trainer can quickly identify which skills need reinforcement and offer personalised support.
