New simulation! Virtual accidents with real hands

I want to use Ludus' VR

Ludus' virtual reality training platform continues to evolve with a new version of one of its most widely used simulations: hand injury prevention. This update introduces a significant improvement: the experience is now wireless and controller-free. In other words, users only need VR glasses and interact with their real hands.

The simulation is now available in the wireless version of the Ludus platform.

Natural interaction with the user's hands

The main new feature of this update is direct detection of real hands, a functionality similar to that already present in the CPR simulation. Thanks to this technology, workers can interact with the virtual environment using their own hands, just as they would in a real situation.

This advance represents a particularly significant qualitative leap in a simulation focused precisely on the risks associated with hands. By experiencing the exercises and possible accidents directly, the level of realism increases significantly, which promotes the transfer of learning and raises workers' awareness of this type of occupational risk.

"I absolutely love the new simulation; the change brought about by being able to use real hands has been spectacular. It adds a level of realism that exceeds expectations. Even in the event of a cutting or puncture injury, when I thought they couldn’t possibly improve on it, they’ve managed to do just that.

It’s exactly what I’m looking for – that impact that makes workers react and really see what could happen to them. It’s incredibly impactful; I love it.”

Risk scenarios for hands in an industrial workshop

The simulation takes place in a metal industry maintenance workshop and presents different situations commonly encountered in this type of environment. Through various practical exercises, users must identify risks and perform tasks safely.

The activities included are:

          • Use of defective tools.
          • Changing a disc on an angle grinder.
          • Operating a drill press without protection.

If mistakes are made during the simulation, the worker may experience first-hand virtual accidents, such as:

  • Injuries from splinters.
  • Cuts.
  • Punctures.
  • Amputations, among others.

Learning evaluation and monitoring

At the end of the exercises, the system displays a results panel showing the errors made during the experience. This data is also integrated into the platform's statistics panel, allowing trainers to analyse performance and reinforce those aspects in which workers have the most difficulty.

With this update, Ludus continues to strengthen its catalogue of occupational risk prevention training content, focusing on increasingly realistic, accessible and effective immersive experiences to improve safety in the workplace.
